In “Argument” (Boston Globe, March 14, 2021), partner Steve Cohen discusses denials and delays caused by medical insurance companies that deem treatments “not medically necessary,” and the impact they have on care for patients. He notes, that while insurer’s engage in these practices, to ferret out waste and fraud in the system, there is scant evidence regarding their success.
