In "Kaiser Must Face Whistleblower’s Software Tampering Fraud Claim" (Bloomberg Law, February 14, 2024), Bloomberg Law discusses a federal Judge's decision, allowing a whistleblower, Jeffrey Mazik, to advance a False Claims Act suit alleging that Kaiser Permanente tampered with fraud detection software in order to overcharge Medicare for health-care services.
Some of Mazik's claims were dismissed, as they were similar to a 2014 suit. However, the U.S. District Court Judge ruled that those having to do with software tampering would be allowed to proceed.
